The Diphedi Centre

The Curator House at Lapalala Wilderness School serves as a Biodiversity Centre with a culinary teaching kitchen as its secondary function. Designed to align with the campus’s architectural language, it integrates sustainable materials like rammed earth, pine timber, in-situ cast exposed aggregate, rusted iron, and plaster and paint.

Unique biodiversity displays showcase the region’s ecology, while natural lighting from windows and ventilation through fans ensure energy efficiency and comfort. The culinary kitchen supports the school’s mission by promoting sustainable practices, making the design a seamless, functional, and environmentally responsible addition to the site.
